Gerson Pizango

Have you ever wanted to visit the Amazon rainforest but not known where to start? We were in that position a year ago and after much research and a lot of luck we found Gerson, our jungle guide.

Gerson was born in a small village 260km from Iquitos in the Peruvian Amazon. Over the years he has worked for many organisations, as well as Amazon jungle lodges as a guide.

Most of these lodges were owned and run by people from outside the Amazon who would take tourists past his village to take photos but never giving anything back. Gerson felt this was unfair, so for the last few years he has been taking groups into the jungle and giving them a much more authentic experience. Usually staying in his village and/or camping in the dense jungle, you really feel a part of this spell-binding place.More
